The formula 1 season came to a dramatic conclusion in Brazil on Sunday with the world champion decided on the last lap of the last race.
Although I’ve been following F1 for 14 years, I can’t remember any race like it. There was so much tension it was almost impossible to watch the last few laps.
My top drives of the 2008 season are;
Lewis Hamilton in Monte Carlo
Hamilton recovered from hitting the crash barriers to take a brilliant victory in a chaotic race at Monaco.
Felippe Massa in Hungary
Aggressive overtaking moves at the start of the race on Kovalainen and Hamiton put Massa in front. Massa led comfortably until his engine blew up three laps before the end.
Vetel in Italy
Starting from pole position, Sebastian Vettel took victory in the wet at Monza and became the youngest ever formula 1 race winner.
Fernando Alonso in Japan
The championship contenders tangled while Alonso went on to take a dominant second win in a row proving that Renault were back as a force in formula 1.
Lewis Hamilton in Britain
A fantastic display of car control in the wet by Hamilton, and some excellent strategy by the team to keep Lewis on the right tyres at the right time as the conditions changed at Silverstone. Barrichello came in a creditable third, Honda’s best result in a dismal season.
Felippe Massa in Brazil
After a superb pole position for his home race, Massa dominated the race in changing conditions and under great pressure to take victory in front of his Brazillian fans.
